Jekyll Island

This past weekend we went for a long weekend down to south Georgia.  Since living in Atlanta I have wanted to visit many places near here that I wouldn't necessarily catch a flight for.  This place was awesome!  It was so natural, peaceful and beautiful in its own way.  We felt like we were the only people on this island because there was hardly anyone else there (very remote place)!

After our 5 hr drive..ready to be there!
How the girls got around..poor daddy:)
While we were there we biked 10 miles as a family, went to Tidelands Nature Center and became familiar with many species we never had known before, toured a Sea Turtle Center and Hospital the only one on the coast of GA.  We saw many sea turtle nests along the beach, collected shells, built sandcastles and saw sharks (yep at the beach, apparently off the coast of Jekyll Island there are more sharks that stay there than anywhere else in North America. A fun fact you should know BEFORE you go there.  However, this will probably not keep us from going back).  We did lots of swimming at the hotel pool and ate  lots of yummy seafood and saw tons of wildlife.  The trip was a great time for us to all relax and catch our breath after school starting and before Jason's busy travel season.
