I have recently deleted my Facebook account and know many of you kept up with us that way. I will do my best to update the highlights of the Huff house.
Updates on the kids (without pics since I haven't uploaded any lately)..
Bentley-he just finished up basketball and really enjoyed learning a new sport. He is super intelligent and crusing right along in school. He has recently learned cursive, improved his typing skills, loves history and any science project. He is REALLY great at math and his least favorite subject is language...I'm pretty certain he'd rather change a dirty diaper of Brannan's than do language. He has several great buddies within our homeschool group and is obviously still close with our neighborhood buddies too.
Madelyn LOVES school!! LOVES it! She will tell me everyday she loves doing school with me everyday and ask to do it on Saturdays! She has become quite the reader and is midway through the 1st grade book of hooked on phonics (which we have loved). She really enjoys writing...anything! She will write her name along with every other object, person, anything she can spell. Unlike Bentley she has enjoyed beginning her language book and can tell you the definition of a noun and distinguish between proper and common nouns. She hangs with us in history especially if I have a great picture book to go along with it and she also loves science and experiments..what kid doesnt? She has become fond of math and is learning/has learned a lot of her addition facts. She loves all the games I give her whether it is to reinforce a math lesson, science or even a bible verse. She also has some great friends in our homeschool group she has really clinged to! She enjoys going on our field trips, park days and AWANAS (Wednesday night church). Madelyn is also taking ballet and violin lessons as well.
Haley is in the midst of learning and being able to distinguish between her alphabet letters. I am using a preschool program with her called Letter of the Week by Confessionsofahomeschooler.blogspot.com It is great! She has created numerous different activities to introduce a letter, reinforce, use numbers to learn counting, sequence and patterns, colors/shapes..you name it, this lady has created some of the coolest preschool stuff! Haley can say her ABC's, can recognize at least through I and many more, count to 20, knows her shapes, colors (most in spanish as well), can write her name and also copy many other words. She can say the pledge of allegiance, recite the months of the year and the days of the week. She can also quote many bible verses by memory. She really enjoys her "work" that I give her while I'm working with the other kids. She is involved with AWANAs (all 3 older ones are) too. She LOVES her girlfriends in the homeschool class and still enjoys hanging out with the kids in the neighborhood as well. Haley loves to dance and eat bubblegum...random info but thought you want to know:)
Brannan is growing everyday!! He eats the same or more than the older kids at almost every meal. Not kidding..the kid's usual breakfast includes cereal bar, mini pancakes, 1/2 banana, toast and eggs..seriously! He still has such a great personality! He is always smiling and going with the flow happily! He has 10 teeth and is cutting 2 more molars and 4 canine teeth. He sleeps 12 hours a night and is down to one 1.5-3 hr nap a day. He loves his siblings and has learned so much from them! In fact, a stranger asked me the other day if he was 2 not because of his size but because of his actions and abilities that he is capable of. He does throw fits but wow, they are so mild. While he is standing, if he gets upset or told "no" he will bend over, put his hands and head on ground stay that way for about 10 sec get up and move on..crazy! I hope to actually be able to get this on camera one day..it's pretty funny! He loves balls, outside, food, and going on walks.
Well, I think that sums up what's going on in our neck of the woods. Hopefully, with Haley's 4th birthday coming up in a couple of days, I will get some new pictures up...here's to hoping anyway:)
